If you had asked me a few months ago, I would’ve said only losers met people online. People who were too socially inept to make friends or too desperate to get dates in “real life.” Then, I realized I was the loser for being so presumptuous, not to mention ignorant. Because my mom was on it, and she gets approached left and right. A man I used to date was on it, and he has NO problem getting ladies. And two, beautiful extremely successful friends of mine were both on it – one of which is currently smitten with one of her matches.
Yet, I was still cynical. As I sat there scrolling through photos of people near me, I literally face-palmed in embarrassment at some of the biographies. But then I realized that I was doing this all from home on what was probably a Friday night at 8:30pm, in jammies, with no makeup, probably eating ketchup chips. All while the girl with less hang-ups was probably on her fourth date this week.
Amidst the few cheeseballs that were strictly looking to bang and the douchettes simply in need of self-validation, there were lots of those who just wanted to meet new people and were exploring new fun ways of doing so.
That’s exactly the thing – it doesn’t have to be that serious! It’s only as serious as you make it. Having a Skout profile doesn’t have to mean love, marriage, and a baby-carriage. Nor does it have to be about “hooking up.” It doesn’t have to be about dating at all! And more and more people are making new friends and creating awesome memories with them every day. So have fun, and live a little. Then, if the signal’s strong you’re free to make the connection in person.

Exactly! Look I’m 22 in the military. I go out and meet people in different cities all the time. Ffom going tdy to Vegas or Biloxi Mississippi for training. This is just another way to meet people in those cities. It doesn’t always mean love or imply that I just want to “hook up”

Skout is awesome for finding people in new places. It was great for me when I was new to San Francisco because I could see local people, and I could ask them about good areas to live in, the best clubs, and just make some new friends.

I used to have the same outlook but this online dating experience has taught me quite a bit … Including how to listen to my gut and weed out the douches pretty darn quick 
@Alia, it’s just like real life, isn’t it? I find that Skout is almost like a bar or any social meeting place…there are people you’re not going to click with, but you move on and find some cool people to chat with.

I’m new to this site and it’s really quick to meet new people everywhere u go. I’m was here to look for a relationship and it took me at least the 5thPerson 2 chat with to find a relationship. But makn new friends is no problem. I love scout.
this depends, some people are truly losers that’s why on online site. most others are not. those who judge based on look even when you are not looking to date them. I have such experience, I chatted with a lady, she clearly liked what i wrote to her, she answered me with two messages favorably and with smilies, but then I took 10 minutes to get back to her second message. I found that she checked my profile, then blocked me. lol My profile description is respectful and I indicate I’m looking to get to know more friends.

I agree. I never use dating sites to find dates. I use them to meet new people.. Talk about random things, keep me entertained when I cannot bother to go out and talk to people. Esp in the winter when it’s too bloody cold. No expectations.. If someone is really cool you might even make a new friend.

Yeah it’s fun talking to different people making new friends to pass time. I’m an introvert and usually stay in and don’t go out too often. So I figured maybe I’d meet someone in the area to go out with, as friends.
Not every guy is looking to do stuff because he is talking to a girl.
I’ve noticed a lot of douche bags, but there are just as many cool personalities as there are douches. You just have to look.
I like this, but I still wonder why some people are on here when they turn out to be really cool. And some times I think wow am I really messing around on an ap instead of out with a guy?
@Shay, why are you surprised that they turn out to be cool? We definitely don’t see Skout as a fallback plan; We see it as a fun and easy way to meet new people, even when you’re busy or at home, and then have the option of meeting with them in real life

I got Skout bc I wanted 2 make some friends! I chat with good people and on Skout I’m not looking 4 dating I’m lookin 4 friends even my guy friends Sean and Spencer have Skout and I chat with them 2!!! But I ignore the people who creep me out and want me 2 date them!! So, dats the reason I got Skout it’s bc Id have many friends just boys who r my age and girls who r 17 in my skool!!!

I actually met my wife of 8 years on an online site. Not this one of course. We started of talking online, then moved to phone conversations…after one 800 dollar phone bill, we decided to meet, felt the instant connection, and been blissful ever since.

I had similar thoughts before I downloaded Skout. I wasn’t sure what I was going to find but it turns out I found an amazing guy. Him and I are currently together and I was never happier. If it wasn’t for Skout I wouldn’t have ever met him. So for all of you talking crap about dating sites just try it because you never know who you could find.

Hardly anyone here wrote the truth about Skout- it’s only sex that 99.9% of the males want to talk about (even though my profile specifies I don’t talk about sex). Some men will start of the first 30 minutes of the conversation in a polite and respectful way then will start the ball rolling on the subject. Because of that I’ve begun chatting to women instead hoping to find some genuinely nice people to talk with.
