Why hello, hello, Skouts!
First and foremost, thank you so much for all of your generous opinions and suggestions in our previous post — you have no idea how much your collective ideas count and how helpful all of your input has been!
As I’ve mentioned in the comments, a lot of what we do for the app is dependent on your voice as a Skout user. We might think we’re doing an incredible job, but oftentimes we have no idea what you guys and gals are thinking. We want to bring you the best possible dating application experience ever, and in order to do that, we just need your input!
So of course if you have any suggestions, just drop us a comment or let us know.
We are most definitely listening. Seriously. We are. We actually moderate each and every comment that comes in!
But okay. Now down to the good stuff.
I’ve noticed that a lot of you (guys mainly) seem to be having problems getting other Skouts to respond to your messages. So here’s some advice from me to you on how to at least start a conversation over Skout and generate some feedback or interest:
1. Upload more than one picture of yourself!
In fact, upload as many pictures of yourself as you can from as many different angles as possible! Have a full-body picture? Upload it! We wanna see your style and get a feel for how you really look. Have a close up shot of your face? Upload it! We want to see what you look like! None of this blurry crappy picture stuff — your myspace angles aren’t going to cut it here.
As a potential flirt or friend looking through the app, we want to make sure that you’re not just some creeper weirdo using one fake picture that you happened to find online. Skout users get tons of messages every day from other Skouts looking to flirt or chat with us. You want to make your profile at least stand out and give us a reason to talk back, so stack your Skout profile with awesome shots of you and STAND OUT!
2. Your Skout profile is like your “digital dating resume” that we quickly skim and critique. Spend some time on it to make it represent you! You’re basically selling yourself as an individual and you need to compel us to speak with you!
One of the best ways to do this is to fill out the About Me section with something interesting about yourself, or perhaps a link to your Facebook or Twitter so we can go check those out and see that you’re a real, living, breathing person and not some sham! When you think about how many Skouts are actually reaching out to each other on this app every day, it’s almost overwhelming. As a Skout user, we all have the option to be a little picky with who we decide to speak to, so always remember to put your best foot forward and STAND OUT!
3. Start off with a creative greeting when you spot someone you’re interested in chatting with! While “Hey, what’s up?” is fine and dandy, it’s definitely not as intriguing as, “Hey, I noticed your profile mentioned that you played Video Games. I play too! It’s cool to see a girl on here who appreciates Call of Duty. Do you play any other games?” Etc etc.
Get my drift??
This is a chatting app, basically. You want to be able to start the conversation off right!
Also, try to steer away from conversation starters that make you come off as a creeper/weirdo. Unless we give you the green light to take it sexual with us, we’re probably going to immediately assume that you’re a douchebag or a psycho rapist or a fake profile. You need to assume that a lot of us are new to the online/mobile dating experience and take it easy on us!
So have I drilled “standing out” into your head yet, Skouts?
Step up that game!
While you may not get a response to every single message you send out, don’t let that discourage you. It’s a bit tougher to impress potential flirts & friends in the online/mobile dating environment in general, so stock up your Skout Profile with pictures and info, start more interesting conversations, and don’t come off as a creeper!
There’s some fierce competition out there.

Make a search feature called local to find flirts between 0-20 miles the near city one has too many options to view that r far away… That would b awesome keep up the good work

Of course! We’ll be keeping your suggestion in mind while we move forward.
I kno i can limit the search to near but its range is too close (5 miles) and i only get 2-3 people online, the city option ranges is 75 miles an too far and way to many profiles to review, i am suggesting a 0-25 mile distance to go in between the two

I like I when a guys actually “talks” to me in chat instead of sending all the stupid winks more then twice and not a single “hi’ word =.= it’s really annoying and it makes me think ‘are they being random ?’ like sending flirt bombs. I believe flirt bombs are useless because they are not even choosing the who to bomb at. And one more, it seems the guys here are more sexually active here . I don’t mind , but they look like ‘cheap retards, who wants to get girls here to bed for free.’ I especially hate when the guys uses a good starting line or two and says ‘ i’ HORNEY’ =.=. And I go like… Do I look like a slag to u!! Makes me feel really unappreciated -.-!!! … Guys, let’s hav fun but try not spilling your beans too soon =.=.

I think it would help if the chatting had an away message deal, like on many other messengers, cause I work during the day and by the time I get home, I have a bunch of un-amswered chats and it makes me feel bad for “ignoring” people who are trying to talk to me, if we could put up an away message when I’m busy, then maybe it wouldn’t be so bad if someone doesn’t answer, thanks for listening!

To all u guys reading this take the advice, we don’t wanna chat to people with no profile pic or no info on your profile. It’s creepy getting those ones winking at u or saying hi but u don’t have any info on them, I delete them straight away without even looking further and the worst us u could be an awesome guy but me not willing to chat otherwise

Great suggestions! I know that when I get a msg from someone who has no pics or profile description, it takes a lot more than “Hey” to get my attention. Oh, and saying “Hi” and then sending a pic of your privates is a huge no no. That’s happened one too many times :-s
There is one thing I’m hoping you guys can fix. I keep getting msgs even after logging out. Which would be fine, except that my phone will buzz a lot thru the night. It’s getting annoying.
Also, I’ve received some winks that I can’t view, and yet the number won’t go away in the app icon.

I seriously hope more guys read this, especially the part about interesting conversation. I find myself carrying pretty much all conversations,even when they started the chat. I ask them about themselves and get one line. I tell them about myself, I get one line. I mention something random and interesting, I get one line. Its pretty boring….

That is not a feature at the moment, but we are working on building a Blocked List so you can do that.
Well this is funny, two things to say. Besides the scammers that are here, the ones trying to suck people in to their Buisness … What’s the big deal some want to be less open and upfront one pic may be sufficient. What I also find arrogant Is the assumptions, guys read this, yada yada.
The second being people are asking questions here and are being outright ignored. That is rude.

I deactivated my profile and deleted the app but I’ve been told that my profile still comes up on skout and sometimes even says that I’m online. How is this possible??
@Sarah, Your account has been closed since April 5th, so your profile will no longer show up. I am unsure if you had another profile…
I see so many profiles out there. I leave them messages too, but very and I mean VERY few even reply . Is it that these profiles are fake or am i doing something wrong. I have even followed the tips suggested. For example – complimenting or may be an ice breaker like i love mountain climbing too. Have no idea why cant girls just reply and say ‘not interested’ if the really aren’t
its because most (attractive) girls are being hit on by so many guys that they simply don’t care about some random person trying to reach out to them, the way most guys would….also, im sure there are some inactive accounts out there as some one mentioned earlier ^^^, that would probably be a a good thing to fix up.
